Woman killed in Ky. 39 accident

Vehicle overturns after overcorrection

A Somerset woman was killed in an early-morning traffic accident on Ky. 39 Wednesday.

Jennifer J. Ward, 39, of Ky. 39 died at the crash scene from injuries suffered in a single-vehicle accident.

According to Pulaski County Sheriff deputy Glen Bland, Ward was operating a 1991 Oldsmobile south on Ky. 39 when the vehicle left the roadway on the west side, causing Ward to lose control. The Oldsmobile crossed both lanes of the highway, striking an earthen embankment on the east side of Ky. 39, authorities said.

The vehicle overturned, ejecting Ward, before it came to rest on its top. Her body was pinned underneath the overturned vehicle, police said.

Coroner Richard New pronounced Ward dead at the scene.

Somerset-Pulaski Rescue Squad, which extricated the body, Woodstock Fire Department and Somerset Fire/EMS assisted at the scene.

The accident occurred at 8:28 a.m. nine miles north of Somerset.
