Southwestern ousts Pulaski in FCA meet

The Warrior distance runners accumulated a total of 56 points to help win the FCA track meet at the University of the Cumberlands this past weekend. Southwestern scored 139.5 points, while Pulaski finished second with 126 points.
Southwestern’s Trevor Jones, Jacob Belwood, David Light and Sabastian Rhode teamed up to win the 3200-meter relay. Rhode and Belwood placed ‘1-2’ in the 1600-meter run with times of 4:34.4 and 4:34.7 respectively. Jones and Belwood went ‘1-2’ in the 800-meter run with times of 2:04.7 and 2:06.0 respectively. Then, Rhode won the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:29.8.
Pulaski’s Chris Muse, along with Southwestern’s Rhode, won two individual events. Muse won the 110-hurdles in a time of 16.37 and Muse won the long jump with a best of 20’2”.
Warriors’ Anthony Mitchell placed second in the 100 meters with a 11.55. Ian Preston and Mitchell placed second and third in the 200 meters with times of 23.92 and 23.99 respectively.
Southwestern also won two relay races and placed second in another. On top of their 3200-meter relay win, Southwestern won the 1600-meter relay with Jones, Light, Craig McQueen and Seath Whiles. Meanwhile, Mitchell, Adam White, Jake King and Preston guided the second place 400-meter relay team.
Pulaski’s Winston Hines placed third in the 100 meters, third in the triple jump and fourth in the 200 meters; Chris Muse placed third in the 300-meter hurdles and second in the triple jump; Michael Eads placed third in the 3200 meters; the 1600 relay team of Justin Brumley, Ralph Letner, RC White, and Jonathon Moore placed second; Daryn Meece placed second in the shot put and third in the discus; and Alex Abner placed second in the high jump.
Somerset’s 3200 relay team of Tyler Adams, Jeremy Sites, Brent Joplin and Jonathon Reeves placed second.
The Lady Warriors’ Kotey Crowe and their 3200-meter relay team picked up wins for the Southwestern girls team. Crowe won the pole vault with a best of 8’6”. The 3200 relay team of Frankie Haynes, Emily McPherson, Laura Norris and Elizabeth Eaton ran a winning time of 10:53.6.
Also, the Lady Warriors’ 400-meter relay team of Shelby Selig, Eaton, Danay Fothergill and Devin Fothergill placed second.
For Pulaski, the 3200 relay team of Kayln Bowers, Zoey Hamm, Paige Ingram and Makayla Sidwell placed second, and Sidwell placed second in the 3200 meters.
For the Lady Jumpers, Lauren Cornett placed second in both the 1600 meters and the 800 meters. Breanna Jones placed third in the shot put.
