At the dish, Profitt led the charge for the Warriors with two hits and a lone RBI. Burchett, Starnes, Trevor Howard, and Lucas Turpin, all had a hit in the loss.
Trevor Howard, who pitched six innings for the Warriors, was saddled with the loss. Burchett, who finished the game off for the Warriors, had five strikeouts in the seventh and final inning.
Despite the loss, the Warriors live to play another day.
“The great thing about baseball is that if we get beat today, we get to suit up and play again tomorrow,” Gover said. “We’ve got two key district games with Monticello and Wayne County coming up - it’s a big week for us. We’ve got to shake the loss off and learn from the mistakes we made tonight.”
Southwestern returned to action last night, when they traveled to Monticello to face the Trojans in a 48th District match-up. The Warriors will travel to Wayne County tomorrow evening for another district contest.
