Maroons split twinbill with Knox

Somerset —

Pulaski County baseball team split wins with Knox Central on Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader losing the first game 12-11, the Maroons were able to win the second match 7-3.
“We didn’t execute well in the first game, defensively we didn’t do what we needed to and that cost us the game,” stated coach Danny Masten. “We hit the ball well in both games today.”
In the first game the Maroons pitched Tyler Wesley, Tyler Hail, and Austin Cornett. In the second game Dustin Vaught was the only pitcher for Pulaski. Vaught pitched seven strikeouts in the last game.
In the first inning, the Maroons play good defense only seeing the first three batters for the Panthers. Pulaski was able to get to their seventh batter in line up Cornett. The Maroons scored four of their seven runs in the first inning Jacob Denny, Eric Jones, Aaron Smith, and Blake Burton all made it home for Pulaski. Smith hit a triple sending Denny home. After the first inning the score was 4-0.
In the second inning Vaught threw two strikeouts. Pulaski only saw three batters in this inning also. The Maroons started their bating order at the bottom with Devin Vaught and Kyle Payton. They both struck out but the top of the line up kept the Maroons alive when Dustin Vaught and Denny both singled and Eric Jones was walked.
Smith Doubled knocking Dustin Vaught and Denny home also advancing jones to third. Burton got the final out of thinning by hitting the ball to the second baseman and the Panthers made the easy play. At the end of the second inning the score was 6-0
“In the first game we walked to many people but in the second game Dustin did a good job,” began Coach Masten. “Defensively we were fine in the second game.”
