Redhounds down Southwestern, 14-0

Somerset — Southwestern’s offense sputtered in a 14-0 loss to Corbin in last night’s opening game of the Ray Correll Bowl at Clark Field.

The Warriors finished the game with 155 offensive yards, all of which came on the ground. Senior running back Logan Campisano finished with most of those yards, as he carried the load with 120 yards on 24 carries.

Andy Stephens’ ball club got to the one-yard line early in the second quarter, but a fumbled snap would give the ball back to Corbin. From that point on, it was all Redhounds, as they finished the game with 14 unanswered points to escape with a season-opening win over the Warriors.

Corbin’s first score of the evening came with 1:44 left in the third period, when Taylor Waddle scored from 8 yards out for a touchdown. Tulio Canineu’s extra point gave the Redhounds an 7-0 lead.

With 8:35 left in the ballgame, Jake Coppock sprinted down the field for a 79-yard touchdown. An extra point from Canineu put Corbin out front, 14-0, which was the final score of the contest.

In the game, the Redhounds had 201 rushing yards and 46 passing yards for a grand total of 247 offensive yards. Coppock led the charge for Corbin with 126 yards and a touchdown.
