Briar Jumpers down LCA, 21-7

Lexington — Somerset High School senior Tanner Gadberry filled in at quarterback, for the injured Castle Hatcher, to guide the Briar Jumpers to a 21-7 district win over Lexington Christian Academy.

 Gadberry had two touchdown passes and threw for 115 yards to lead the Jumpers to their first district win and evened their season record to 4-4.

Senior wide receiver Cam Cheuvront hauled in Gadberry’s two touchdown passes and the senior receiver tallied 115 yards on 3 catches.

Gadberry connected with Cheuvront for the first score of the game with 4:19 left in the opening quarter.

Lexington Christian’s Chandler Sneed scored from 5 yards out to tie the score at 7-7 to open the second quarter.

Somerset retook the lead with 6:34 left in the half off a 10-yard touchdown run by senior Bryson Jones.

Then with 4:03 left in the third quarter, Gadberry connected again with Cheuvront for a 92-yard touchdown pass play to up the Jumpers’ lead to 21-7.

Bryson Jones had 10 carries for 74 yards and a touchdown.

Somerset standout senior lineman Kagen Skidmore recorded 3 1/2 sacks and made an interception
