The Lady Maroons got their first win of the season against Williamsburg on Monday night with a final score of 69-52.
“We shot the ball well and it was about time,” stated coach Brian Miller. “We still aren’t making free through.”
The Lady Maroons forced 25 turnovers and several were costly. The Lady Jackets turned the ball over 13 times just in the first quarter. Williamsburg force 19 turnovers but returned very few for a basket.
“When you shoot the ball as well as we did tonight it makes up for some of those mistakes,” coach Miller stated. “We had a lot of easy baskets because of all their turnovers.”
The Lady Maroons had the lead the entire game. In the first quarter Pulaski went on a 14-2 run. At the end of the first quarter the Lady Maroons had a 17-point lead at 26-9.
In the second quarter Pulaski increased the deficit even more. The Lady Maroons went into the half with a 28 point lead 47-19 was the score at the break.
“We came out this game with a lot more intensity than we did the first two,” coach Miller began. “We got bunch of easy baskets because our defense led to our offense.”
In the third period the Lady Jackets looked like a different team in the beginning of the quarter. Williamsburg hit two threes to try and get back in the game.
Despite the Lady Jackets efforts Taylor Brock had two threes and a jump shot in four trips. At the end of three periods the score was 62-37
In the fourth quarter the Lady Maroons allowed the Williamsburg to comeback within 17. The final score for the quarter was 69-52
The Lady Maroons finally had someone else step up and contribute on the offensive end. Taylor Brock had a season high with 15 points and Haley Warren put up 10. Brittany Warren led the team with 23 points.
With this win Pulaski moves to 1-2 in this early season. The Lady Maroons will be returning to action on their home floor against Casey County. The District match will be played at 6 as the first game in the boy girl doubleheader.
Williamsburg moves to 0-3 on the season. The Lady Jackets returned to action on Tuesday night they will be playing Lynn Camp at 7:30.
