SWHS sweeps doubleheader with Knox

Somerset —

Southwestern put three runs across the plate in the fourth inning to take an 11-0 lead over the Lady Panthers. The biggest hit came from Fourman, who blasted her second home of the season over the right center field wall for a two-run shot. Molden (error) and Beasley (walk) would both round the bases on a double from Venable.
The Lady Warriors would take game one by the score of 11-0, in five innings, due to the mercy rule. Southwestern continued to dominate in the nightcap, taking down Knox Central in four innings by a score of 15-0.
Three different Southwestern players finished with a pair of hits in the ballgame - Fourman, Molden, and Venable. Fourman had a double and a home run with two RBI’s, while Venable had a single and a double with a game-high three RBI’s. Molden finished with two singles and one RBI.
Fourman also a had big night on the mound for Southwestern, as she earned the victory. In her five-inning outing, the junior gave up three hits and struck out four Lady Panther batters.
“Dozer, she rocked out there tonight,” praised the long-time Lady Warrior softball coach. “She was on her game. Her big home run was a back-breaker.”
Southwestern, who moved to 3-0 with the pair of victories over Knox Central, traveled to Clinton County last night to take on the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Warriors will be back on the road this afternoon, when the will travel to Cumberland County.
