#2 Pulaski edges Eagles, 21-18

Berea — The Pulaski County Maroons overcame their lowest scoring output of the season and three turnovers, but for the second year in a row, Johnny Hines and crew won a gut-check on the road at Madison Southern to take a strangle hold on a second consecutive district championship with a hard--fought 21-18 victory.

The Maroons scored all the points they would need in the opening quarter of play, getting a pair of touchdown passes from quarterback Riley Hall, along with an 81-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from Aaron Smith.

Hall’s first TD pass of the night--a 22-yard scoring toss to George Gregory--got the Maroons off and rolling with a 7-0 lead.

Later in the first quarter on their next possession, the Maroons extended that margin to 14-3 on a 5-yard TD pass from Hall to Jake Johnson.

After Madison Southern’s Damien Harris scored on a 57-yard TD run to trim the lead to 14-10, Smith took the ensuing kickoff all the way to the house for an 81-yard return giving the Maroons a 21-10 lead.

the score remained that way until Harris scored on a 52-yard run late in the game that cut the PC lead down to 21-18 after his two-point conversion run, but Hall completed an 8-yard pass to Johnson on a fourth down and 7 play inside the game’s final minute to ice this one away for the Maroons.
