Sammy Jo Bullock places 7th in nation

Louisville — Shopville Elementary fifth-grader Sammy Jo Bullock fired a 284 in the National Archery in Schools National Championships to place seventh in the girls elementary division. Bullock, who peirced the center circle 16 times,  was third n the nation among her fellow fifth-graders.

Bullock beat out nearly 500 elementary girls in her division.

Southern Middle seventh-grader Hadley Henderson placed 23rd in the girls middle school division and she placed 12th amongst seventh graders. Henderson scored a 283 and hit the center circle 17 times.

Shopville Elementary fifth-grader Payton  Daniels placed 28th in the elementary division and placed seventh amongst other fifth graders. Daniels shot a 282 score and had 15 center circles..

Somerset seventh-graders Calder Lawless and Nick Casada placed 32nd and 33rd, respectively, in the boys middle school division. Calder and Lawless both scored  286’s. Calder placed 14th among seventh graders and Lawless placed 15th among other seventh graders. Both Somerset archers hit 19 center circles apiece.

Pulaski County High School freshman Sarah Burton placed 43rd in the high school girls division with a 284 score. Burton placed 14th in her freshman class and hit 19 center circles.

Pulaski freshman Brittany Morgan placed 103rd in the girls high school division and 32nd in her class. Morgan fired a 280.

Pulaski County High School freshman Dalton Barron fired a 285 to place 116th in the boys high school division. Barron, who had 19 center circles, was the 32nd best boys freshman archer.

Pulaski County High School placed 25th in the high school division with 3,337 points. Northern Middle School placed 31st in the middle school division with 3,234 points, while Southern Middle School placed 34th with 3,224 points.

Shopville Elementary was 44th in the elementary division with 3,073 points.

Top archers, and teams, will advance to the 2013 NASP World Championships in St. Louis, Mo. The NASP World Championships are scheduled from June 28 through June 30.

    For the second time, Al Gover has resigned as the Pulaski County High School boys basketball coach after five seasons at the helm.
    On Friday, Gover announced he was resigning from the Maroons’ head boys basketball coaching position and told his team this past weekend.
