In the opening game of the ‘best of three’ series, Lake Cumberland came away with a hard fought 5-2 win thanks to the handy work of their starting pitcher John Phipps, who worked the entire game on the mound.

Phipps recorded an impressive 13 strikeouts and gave up only three hits. Phipps pitched five innings of scoreless baseball before giving up a pair of meaningless runs to Casey County in the final frame.
