Pulaski Co. makes first state finals with 20-17 win over Anderson County

Lawrenceburg — For the first time in the program’s history, the Pulaski County High School football team will be playing for a KHSAA state championship title.

Pulaski, who upped their record to a perfect 14-0, downed Anderson County High School 20-17 to win the KHSAA Class 5A state semifinal championship.

With 46 seconds left in the game and on fourth down, Pulaski sophomore quarterback Riley Hall threw a touchdown strike to freshman Jake Johnson to put the Maroons in the lead.

The Bearcats ended the game by missing a 41-yard field goal attempt.

With 4:06 minutes left in the game and holding a 17-14 lead, Anderson County had possession of the ball but fumbled on their first offensive play, giving the Maroons one last chance to take the lead     – which they did.

Anderson County got on the board first with a 31-yard field goal to go up 3-0.

Pulaski quickly countered when Hall threw to Aaron Smith for a 6-yard touchdown pass.
