Pulaski holds off Warriors, 40-24

Somerset — The Pulaski County Maroons tied a bow on a perfect 10-0 regular season last night with a 40-24 victory over arch-rival Southwestern, however the Warriors certainly didn’t go down without a fight.

Southwestern outgained PC for the game in total offense 322-308, however the Maroons countered that by scoring on an interception return and a kickoff return, overcoming the huge nights by the Warriors backfield duo of Logan Campisano and Skylar Stigall.

Campisano rushed for a game-high 235 yards and scored 3 touchdowns, while Stigall ran for 172 yards and a score, but even that wouldn’t be enough to get Southwestern over the hump in this one.

Pulaski County’s Riley Hall connected on 13 of 23 pass attempts for 242 yards, throwing TD passes to Jake Johnson and Aaron Smith.

Smith meanwhile had another monster night for PC, scoring 4 touchdowns in the win for the Maroons.

It was Smith’s 3-yard plunge early in the first quarter that got PC off and running with a 6-0 lead.

After Hall threw his first TD pass of the night -- a 19-yard hookup with Johnson, Smith hauled in a 51-yard scoring toss from the PC quarterback giving the Maroons a 20-12 lead at the intermission.

Smith then returned the opening onsides kick to get the second half underway 51 yards for his third TD of the night, extending the lead out to 27-12.

Campisano cut the deficit to 27-18 with a 2-yard run, but George Gregory sealed the win with a 70-yard interception return for another score.
