The Pulaski County Maroons – fresh off a bye week – picked up last night exactly where they left off in the regular season – perfect.
Johnny Hines’ club moved to a perfect 11-0 on the season last night, by rolling over the visiting Whitley County Colonels by a final tally of 47-22.
And has been the case for the entire 2013 season, the Maroons got contributions by a host of players.
Quarterback Riley Hall connected on 9 of 15 pass attempts for 165 yards and 4 touchdowns, Aaron Smith scored 4 TD’s, George Gregory caught a pair of touchdowns passes, while Caleb Cox scored on a 69-yard romp, in a game where the Maroons were never really threatened.
PC took the lead early on by scoring on its first drive of the night thanks to a 22-yard scoring toss from Hall to Gregory.
After the Colonels cut that margin to 7-6, the Maroons iced this one by scoring three touchdowns in a little over a four-minute span.
Cox extended the margin to 14-6 with is 69-yard TD run, Hall threw a 3-yard TD pass to Gregory, and Smith hauled in a 22-yard pass from Hall for that third touchdown in just over four minutes.
In the middle of the third quarter, Hall threw his fourth TD pass of the night--a 45-yard strike to Smith, extending the lead at that juncture to 47-6, forcing the game to go to a running clock.
