Warriors fall in OT to Knox Central, 31-28

Corbin — Southwestern High School football squad’s offense came to life as they slugged it out with Knox Central in the opening game of the Cumberland Falls  Pigskin Classic. But the 0-2 Warriors were edged out 31-28 in overtime after the Panthers’ Jacob Tate nailed a 19-yard field goal to end the game in OT.

Logan Campisano scored off a one-yard touchdown run with 4:44 left in regulation to tie the game for the fourth time at 28-28.

The Warriors were led by quarterback Jesse Meece, who rushed for 47 yards with 2 rushing TDs and passed for another 51 yards with a passing TD.

The Warriors opened the game with a fumble recovery by Stewart Russell on the opening kick-off, which Southwestern converted into a score. Warrior QB Jesse Meece found the end zone off a 5-yard keeper with 10:04 left in the opening quarter putting the Warriors up 7-0.

Meece scored again in the first quater from 28 yards out on a quarterback keeper to put the Warriors up 14-7.

The Warriors scored on a 31-yard touchdown pass play from Meece to Branson Patterson in the third quarter to tie the game at 21-21.

Logan Campisano scored fon a one-yard touchdown run to  the game for the fourth time at 28-28 with 4:44 left in the game.
