Injury accident on bypass

Somerset —

The driver and two passengers in the Dodge van, pictured, were taken by Somerset-Pulaski County EMS Wednesday to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital after they were injured in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Ky. 914 and Slate Branch Road in Somerset. According to information provided by the Somerset Police Department, the van, driven by Matthew Blankenship, struck a Lexus SUV driven by Mary Merrick after it reportedly ran a red light at the intersection. Merrick was not injured in the accident. Rush hour traffic was snarled at the busy intersection while emergency workers cleared the accident scene.
