Taste of the Lake’ a downtown hit

Perfect weather and delicious smells in the air helped make for a heaping portion of people at Friday’s “Taste of the Lake” event.
The second-annual downtown “Taste” brought 19 local restaurants and eateries together at the judicial center plaza Friday evening to help raise money for a good cause.
Over $2,900 was brought in to help fund Operation Angel Care, a charitable initiative designed to help provide a better holiday for families in need in this area.
Organizer Wynona Padgett was pleased with the turnout — and what was turned in — to this year’s “Taste of the Lake” event, after rain put a bit of a damper on it last time.
“I’m really pleased with that amount (raised) because it’s about $1,000 more than last year,” she said.
Padgett estimated that several hundred visited “Taste” during the course of the night (the event started at 6 p.m.).
“I know Pub 311 brought 400 burgers to grill and divided them into fourths ... and they were out if them by about 8:30 p.m.,” said Padgett. “So that alone would have been 1,200 tickets.”

“Taste of the Lake” was sponsored by Clear Channel-Lake Cumberland and the Alton Blakley Family of Dealerships.
