Somerset — A Pulaski County man who pleaded guilty to incest charges was sentenced last week in court.

Ronnie Lee Logan, 45, of Hendricks Road, Science Hill, appeared in Pulaski Circuit Court Thursday before Judge Jeffrey T. Burdette.

Logan pleaded guilty in September to one count of incest connected with an incident involving his stepdaughter.

Logan was arrested Aug. 10 after the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department investigated a report that Logan had sexually abused his stepdaughter. The investigation began in November 2012.

“The report indicated the abuse had been ongoing for a number of years and had resulted in a child being fathered by Logan with his stepdaughter,” stated Lt. Det. Brett Whitaker, with the sheriff’s department, in a press release about the initial arrest.

Whitaker said the alleged abuse occurred between 2009 and 2012. The child was born in April 2010. Whitaker said the victim was 17 “when the child was conceived.” Whitaker said the victim’s mother was living in the home with the victim and Logan, but the alleged abuse reportedly occurred “outside her presence.”

Whitaker said a “lengthy investigation” was carried out, and noted the alleged victim was removed from the home immediately after the incidents were reported.

“We had to schedule a forensic interview, gather DNA samples, and then wait on DNA testing results from the (Kentucky State Police) lab,” Whitaker said. “DNA testing routinely takes 6 months to a year to get results back.

“That testing resulted in conclusive results showing Logan had fathered the child,” Whitaker stated.

Burdette on Thursday accepted Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney David Dalton’s recommended 15-year sentence for Logan.
