Fallen limb removed in Ferguson

Debris from oak tree narrowly missed City Hall

Somerset —

Ferguson City Hall was literally up a tree early Thursday morning after a large limb fell from a giant oak tree.
The limb broke sometime during the night and was blocking most of Murphy Avenue at daybreak. Alvin Sims, who lives two houses north of city hall, said he dragged the limb out of the street and onto the parking lot at city hall.
Sims was unsure what time the limb fell. “I didn’t hear it ... if there was a storm, it didn’t wake me. He said his wife came in from work and told him the street was blocked.
The large oak is in the front yard of a house immediately joining city hall property on the north side. Sims said the house is vacant.
Mayor Allen Dobbs said at midafternoon Thursday the limb and branches have been removed from the parking lot.
“There are some leaves scattered around ... I don’t think there is any damage,” Dobbs said.
