Burnside —

A southern Pulaski County man was arrested after investigators say he sexually abused a young child.
David Brandon Murphy, 22, of Incline Road, in Burnside, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse with a victim under 12 years of age, according to Lt. Det. Brett Whitaker, with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department.
The sheriff’s department on Wednesday received a report that a 7-year-old female child “had been subjected to sexual contact” by a relative, her uncle, identified later as Murphy, according to Whitaker.
According to the complaint, the suspect “groped and fondled” the child while they were at his home on Incline Road.
“During the visit, the child was watching TV with Murphy in his bedroom,” Whitaker stated through a press release. “While in the bedroom, Murphy touched and groped the child and engaged in oral sex with the child.”
Murphy was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center Wednesday afternoon with no bond, according to online jail records.
Murphy is scheduled to appear in district court on Friday.
