Local man indicted in connection with November car crash

Somerset — A Somerset man has been indicted on charges stemming from a November 2012 accident that left two people injured.

Blake T. Tuttle, 21, of Monticello Road, was indicted this month by a Pulaski County grand jury on two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Tuttle was arrested Nov. 7, 2012, after he was involved in a two-vehicle accident on East My. Vernon Street in Somerset. Tuttle’s Ford pickup truck collided with a van near the intersection of Grande Avenue. The occupants of the van, Phillip Gullion,  and Shaylin Nelson, were treated at the scene and transported by Somerset-Pulaski County EMS to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for treatment.

The accident affected traffic in the area for around an hour.

The two second-degree assault charges stem directly from the collision and the injuries suffered by Gullion and Nelson.

According to the indictment, which was filed on July 8, Tuttle committed first-degree endangerment “ ... by operating his vehicle in such a manner, thereby engaging in conduct which created a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury upon April McKinney and James McKinney and under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life.”

An indictment is an accusation only and defendants are assumed innocent unless and until proven otherwise in court.
