Local woman gets 26 years on murder conviction

Robinson, 22, planned 2011 murder of Rockcastle man

Somerset —

A Pulaski County woman convicted on multiple charges in connection with the 2011 death of a Rockcastle County man was sentenced to more than 25 years in prison.
Commo-wealth’s Attorney Eddy F. Montgomery announced Monday that Jessica Hailey Robinson, 22, was sentenced to 26 years in prison for her role in the December 2011 shooting death of Jackie Bullock.
Robinson in early August was convicted on charges of wanton murder, first-degree complicity to commit robbery, complicity to manufacture methamphetamine, and second-degree being a persistent felony offender.
Prosecutors during the five-day trial presented a jury evidence that showed on Dec. 1, 2011, Robinson and four others — Gary Lee Kirby, Mary Hannah Hunsucker, Joshua Cameron and Bobby Peters, all of Mt. Vernon — lured Bullock to Peters’ residence with the intent of taking Bullock’s prescription pain medicine and cash, according to Montgomery.
Testimony from the trial indicated that the group had been making and using methamphetamine for several days leading up to the incident. According to Montgomery, Robinson became angry at Bullock because of allegations that he had made about her and another co-defendant, then suggested that the group rob Bullock in retaliation.
Evidence introduced in the trial showed that Robinson knew Bullock had recently obtained a prescription for 150 Oxycontin pills, and made numerous phone calls to him to get him to Peters’ residence. Once Bullock arrived, Robinson left with him in order to allow the remaining co-defendants to prepare for the crime. Upon their return, Robinson remained at the residence while Bullock left to go home.
As Bullock was leaving, Kirby told Bullock to stop and give him his pills, according to Montgomery. Bullock tried to leave, and Kirby fired two shots into the car, striking Bullock in the back and causing his death.
The jury in August, after deliberating, recommended a 22-year sentence for Robinson.
