Todd receives election roster

Candidate wants to know how many voters cast ballots

Eubank —

An apparently unsuccessful candidate for reelection to Eubank City Commission says he has received a copy of the Eubank Precinct No. 25 roster of voters who cast a ballot November 6.
“I just got it yesterday (November 27) and I haven’t had a chance to look at it,” said Curtis G. Todd, member of Eubank City Commission since 1998.
“I want to know how many voters were eligible to vote in the Eubank city election and how many signed in to vote,” Todd told County Clerk Ralph Troxtell shortly after a recanvass of votes in the commissioners’ contest showed no errors.
Todd filed an open records request November 15 for the Eubank precinct roster with the State Board of Elections. The precinct roster is the book voters sign when they enter a voting place. Most of the city of Eubank is in precinct No. 25. There are voters in No. 25 who do not live in the city limits.
If Todd, when analyzing the precinct roster, finds something he feels is inaccurate, his only remaining option is to contest the election in Pulaski Circuit Court. Deadline for contesting the election is December 6.
With 52 votes, Todd and Alton Fulcher Jr., with 54, were the two incumbents who failed to be reelected.
Edward Ray Hicks, with 67 votes, and Connie Belcher, with 63, were reelected to the commission. Newcomers Larry D. Wheeldon with 78 votes and Bill R. Jones with 59 will join them in January.
Other candidates in the race were Aaron Belcher, 50 votes, and George Dunne, 10 votes.
