Jasper out on bond, awaits April 25 court date

Somerset —

A Pulaski County man who is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a horrible car accident last month which seriously injured his 12-year-old daughter has a court date set for April 25.
James F. (Jimmy) Jasper, 56, is scheduled to be arraigned in Pulaski Circuit Court in front of Judge David A. Tapp.
Jasper was arrested last Friday by the Somerset Police Department and charged with first-degree assault. Somerset Police claim Jasper’s blood-alcohol level was above the legal limt of .08.
Jasper was indicted by a Pulaski County grand jury in connection with the March 5 accident which occurred on Pumphouse Road. Jasper’s vehicle ran off the road and through a wooden fence.
Jaden Jasper, a seventh-grader at Northern Middle School, suffered severe injuries in the car crash, including a depressed skull fracture, a broken eye socket, and a broken cheekbone. Doctors warned her family she may never be the same again, and she remained sedated for several days while medical experts debated what to do.
But Jaden has made a miraculous recovery and is now recuperating at home.
JImmy Jasper was also inured in the crash —he was struck and impaled by a fence plank in the shoulder area, and also suffered a broken collarbone, broken clavicle, broken ribs, broken vertebrates, broken wrist, collapsed aorta, and a skull fracture.
A spokesperson for the Somerset Police Department said Jimmy Jasper was arrested without incident at his home around 4 p.m. last Friday by Officer Joe Criswell.
Jasper was lodged at the Pulaski County Detention Center, but was released on bond over the weekend.
