Somerset —

Pulaski began the Lake Cumberland Hoops Classic Thursday night on their home court playing Louisville Waggener. The Maroons were able to come out with a 71-54 victory over the Wildcats.
“I am pleased with this win, I thought we could have played better,” stated coach Al Gover. “I think we could have played with more intensity, we didn’t get after them as hard as we could have.”
In the first quarter Pulaski went on a 12-3 run over the Wildcats, senior Taylor Gover scored ten of those for his club. The Maroons forced six turnovers for the quarter. The score to end the period was 16-8 Pulaski’s lead.
In the second quarter the Maroons were able to increase their lead over Waggener. The Maroons were able to force another five turnovers in this period of play. Pulaski went into the break with an 11-point lead. The score at halftime was 30-19.
The Maroons held on to their lead not allowing the Wildcats any chance to get back into the game. In the third quarter Pulaski shot 12 free throw attempts making only six of them. At the end of the third period the Maroons had stretched their lead to 24-point difference 53-29 was the score after three periods of play.
In the fourth quarter Pulaski didn’t let up much. This was the only quarter the Wildcats were able to out score the Maroons but their efforts were too little too late. The final score was 71-54.
Pulaski’s season record is 6-3 with this win and they returned to action last night in the Lake Cumb-erland Hoops Classic play Taylor County in the Maroons gym.
“Taylor Cou-nty is a really good team and they have some good players who can shoot the ball,” Coach Gover stated. “We will be in trouble if we come out and go through the motions like we did tonight.”
