SFD battles Ringgold Road fire

Somerset — No humans were harmed in a Monday afternoon house fire on Ringgold Road in Somerset, but two dogs were killed, according to the Somerset Fire Department. Chief Tyler Jasper said that the fire started at 1149 Ringgold Road at around 4 p.m., as the homeowner, Wanda Carroll, was trying to start a fire at the stove. The fire spread throughout the house and “gutted” it, in Jasper’s words. Carroll was the one person home at the time, but her pets were caught inside and were casualties of the blaze. The Somerset Fire Department was joined by volunteers from the Science Hill and Parkers Mill Fire Departments and was assisted by the Somerset Police Department.
