Meth cases top court docket

Somerset —

• Anthony Ray Trotter, 52, of Somerset pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a June 2011 theft from Hanson Quarry. Trotter was sentenced to one year in prison. The case was investigated by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department.
• Irvine Shane South-wood, 32, of Monticello pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years in prison for felony shopl-ifting, according to Dalton. Dalton stated that in October 2012, the Somerset Police Depart-ment arrested Southwood after he took more than $500 in electronics from Wal-Mart. 
Project Shop-Loss, an effort by local retailers, law enforcement, and prosecutors to investigate local shoplifting rings, identified Southwood as a persistent shoplifter, according to Dalton. 
Dalton also stated that Southwood had similar charges in Warren, Barren, and Wayne Counties. Southwood received a sentence of two years in prison, consecutive to whatever sentences Southwood may receive in other counties.  
• Kimberly A. Meece, 35, of Somerset was imprisoned for 15 years following the revocation of her probation, according to Dalton. Dalton stated Meece was originally convicted of eight counts of theft by deception and seven counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
• Julia N. Smallwood, 52, of Science Hill was imprisoned for four years following the revocation of his pretrial diversion, according to Dalton. Dalton stated Smallwood was originally convicted of cultivation of marijuana, five or more plants. 
• Cherish Sizemore, 20, of Somerset, pleaded guilty to flagrant non-support, according to Dalton. Dalton stated Sizemore failed to provide nearly $8,000 in child support over a two-year period. Dalton stated he would recommend five years in prison. Burdette set final sentencing for July 18, 2013.
• Kevin Crockett, 41, of Science Hill was sentenced to one year in prison for DUI, fourth offense.  Crockett was arrested by the Somerset Police Department. Crockett was prosecuted through the rocket docket program.
• Ottie Monroe Kirby, 51, of Mt. Vernon pleaded guilty to first-degree possession of a controlled substance, according to Montgomery. Montgomery stated he would recommend one year in prison.  Burdette set final sentencing for July 18, 2013.
