Robert Robinson

Robert Robinson, 78, son of Robert C. and Minnie Brewer Robinson, died March 4, 2008, in Saint Joseph East Hospital.
Robert was born Nov. 19, 1929, in Iuka, Miss. He attended Burnsville High School and he finished at the top of his class. There he met the love of his life, Johnnie Ruth Dotson, and they were married Sept. 25, 1948. Robert retired as a supervisor from the Lear Siegler corporation after 41 years of loyal service. He coached Babe Ruth baseball for many years in Somerset, Ky. Robert was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Baptist faith. Robert’s passions included the Detroit Tigers, UK basketball, pinochle with his brothers, his days at the Billiards in Somerset, bragging on his grandchildren, and any family gathering.
Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years, Johnnie Ruth; a son, Robert Neal of Berea, Ky.; a daughter, Sandra Joan (and Norman) Blowers of Morristown, Tenn.; a son, Gary Ward (and Donna) Robinson of Berea; grandsons Mark and Matthew Robinson of Smyrna, Tenn., Adam Blowers of Morristown, Tenn., and Alex, Jake, and Isaac Robinson of Berea; his beloved granddaughter, Rachel Blowers, of Morristown, Tenn.; and great grandchildren, Caitlin, Azrael, and Aralyn Robinson, of Smyrna, Tenn. Also surviving are brothers Jessie Talmadge Robinson of White Bluff, Tenn., and Jimmy Wayne Robinson of Southaven, Miss.; and sisters Altha Lambert of Memphis, Tenn., Georgia Hancock of Ripley, Miss., and Becky Harville of Tupelo, Miss.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by brothers Orlando, Marvin, and Fred Robinson, and sisters Edith Seago and Nellie Rickman.
Services will be at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea with visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. today, March 6, and the funeral service on Friday, March 7, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Eric Robinson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
