Charles E. "Buster" Leonard Sr., 87, of Xenia, Ohio, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008.
he Was born June 20, 1920, in Somerset, Ky., the son of Sullins and Mary Elizabeth Martin Leonard.
he was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 38 years, Fredia M. Taylor Leonard in 1987; and his siblings, Joe, Ted, Damon, Tom, Virginia, Nina, and Irene.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Sue (and Jim) Taylor, and his son, with whom he made his home, Charles E. (and Fran) Leonard Jr., both of Xenia; grandchildren Eric (and Lori) Croley of Xenia, Andrea Riley of Kettering, Ohio, Tonya (and Jim) Simison of Fayetteville, N.C., Bridget (and Matt) Graham, Lindsey (and Kenny) Fairbanks, and Christopher Taylor, all of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Jennifer Taylor of Miamisburg, Ohio; 14 great-grandchildren, Nadia, Devin, and Marah Croley, Taylor and Robert Simison, Madelyn Riley, Matthew, Blake, and Elizabeth Graham, Alexis and Gabrielle Turner, Kristina Fairbanks, Caitlin Taylor, and Leslie Alvelo; a sister, Mary Jones of Somerset, Ky.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Buster was the owner of Busse's Garage in Xenia. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in EAME Theater. He enjoyed NASCAR, playing pool, and telling jokes.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, may 7, at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 North Detroit Street, Xenia, with Pastor Robert McDowell officiating.
Internment to follow in Valley View Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Dayton. they would like to thank Cheryl, Denise, Doug, Dr. Cass, and all of Hospice.
