William Burton

Mr. William “Billy” Burton, age 78, of Nancy, Ky., departed this life on Friday, May 9, 2008, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on Sept. 23, 1929 in Nancy, Ky. to the late Elwood and Audie Calhoun Burton. He was a retired farmer and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed four wheeling and riding horses.

Mr. Burton is survived by his wife, Verneda Britt Burton, whom he married on Jan. 22, 1947 in Nancy, Ky.; two sons, Ronald (and Doris) Burton and Robert Burton, both of Nancy, Ky.; two sisters, Edna Bullock and Anna Lee King, both of Somerset; four grandchildren, (Teresa) and Pat Hansel, of Somerset, Kathy Smith, of Somerset, Rodney Burton, of Nancy, Ky. and Alisha Burton Alexander; six great-grandchildren, Nathan Keeney, Michael Girdler, Airel Girdler, Kyra Smith, Miraha Burton, and Braxton Wright Burton; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Kenneth Burton; and two sisters, Maudie Bray and Alma Bray.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 12 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. J.S. New and Bro. Denny Britt officiating. Burial will follow in the Chesterview Cemetery at Nancy, Ky.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
