Hazel Burlew

Hazel Dishner Burlew, 77, a resident of Somerset, Ky., passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Sunrise Manor in Somerset, Ky., after a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 30, 1930, at Duffield, Va., the daughter of Will Dishner and Donnie Crook Dishner.
She was a former teacher, secretary and Mayor of Gem, Kansas.
Mrs. Burlew was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Claude L. Burlew Jr.; and her parents, Will and Donnie Dishner.
She is survived by three sons, C. Edwin (and his wife, Carol) Burlew, Mesa, Arizona, Jonathan W. (and his wife, Paula) Burlew, Somerset, Ky., and Christopher M. (and his wife, Kathy) Burlew, Salina, Kansas; nine grandchildren; three brothers; and six sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 16, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church of Somerset with the Rev. Allen Brimer officiating.
A luncheon will follow the service for family and friends.
A memorial has been established to the Hazel D. Burlew Memorial Fund and Pulaski County Alzheimers Respite Center.

Mrs. Burlew’s remains were bequeathed to the University of Kentucky School of Medicine.
