Elsie C. Stevens, 83, of Estill Hackney Road in Eubank, Ky., passed away Monday, June 22, 2009 at University of Kentucky Medical Center.
She was born at Cain's Store, Kentucky, daughter of the late George and Clara Chumbley. She retired from Palm Beach and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Roberta Stevens Six of Lexington, Ky.; two brothers, Winford Chumbley of Somerset and Jesse Chumbley of Arizona; and one sister, Edna Baugh of Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delrue Stevens, whom she married on December 28, 1946 and who died on August 19, 1990; her parents; son-in-law, David Six; and seven brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 26 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Miller and Bro. Phil Fisher officiating.
Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
