— Opal Burgess Bridgeman, 91, was born in Monticello, Ky., June 24, 1918, the daughter of the late John Harrison and Margaret Adkins Burgess. She departed this life, Monday, June 29, at the Somerset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Gail Bridgeman.
Surviving are four children, Anna (and Harold) Massey of Somerset, Ky., Gayla (and Jerry) Peavie, and Clyde (and Marylene) Bridgeman, both of Monticello, and John Kay (and Kathy) Bridgeman of Parrigan, Ind.
Her daughter, Lytha Breeding, preceded her in death.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, and two sisters, Irene Arthur and Frances Burgess.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, William Burgess, and a grandson, Harry Arnold Tate III.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 2, at Hickey & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
