Lena Viola Sullivan Flynn, 84, Somerset, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was born on Feb. 7, 1924, in New Castle, Ind., to the late Afrey and Josephine Ellen Winchester Bates. She was a retired factory worker for
the former Lear Seigler Plant and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and restoring antiques.
Mrs. Flynn is survived by three sons, William Haskell Sullivan, Somerset, James Lewis Flynn, Frankfort, Ky., and David Allen Flynn Burnside, Ky.; a daughter, Brenda Sue Flynn Hill, Science Hill, Ky.; four sisters, Alta Bedinghaus, Cincinnati, Ohio, Pauline Moody, Steubenville, Ohio, Wanda Giannunzio, Royal Oak, Mich., and Wilma Risch, Cincinnati, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Christie, Charlene, Tammy, Nathan, Tonya, Jessica, Michael, Chad and Jenny; and 11 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; first husband, Haskell Sullivan; second husband, Herman Flynn; two brothers, Leslie and Clyde; and four sisters, Lola Hill, Loraine Duchateau, Mary Ellen Bates and Clara Louise Bates.
Visitation will be Sunday (today), July 6, 2008, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be Monday, July 7 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. J.S. New officiating.
A Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Frankfort, Ky.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Red Cross or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
