Mrs. Marlene Barbee, age 71, of Somerset, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, Ky.
She was born on June 30, 1937 in Somerset, Ky. to the late Arthur Raymond and Cleo Warren. She was a homemaker, former manager of the Big John’s Grocery Store for 11 years and before that she worked at the Palm Beach factory for several years. She was a member of the Sunnyside Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Barbee, whom she married on Dec. 28, 1994 in Somerset; two daughters, Cheryl Ann (and Gary) Strunk, of Ferguson, Ky. and Glenda Fay (and Barry) Warren, of Montevallo, Ala.; a brother, John Arthur (and Jan) Warren, of Selma, Ind.; two sisters, Kathlene Avera, of Lubbock, Texas and Barbara Jean (and Jerry) Brinson, of Somerset; four grandchildren, Deidra Murphy, Delaina Miracle, Andrew Strunk, and Danielle Warren; and four great-grandchildren, Celina Rogers, Britney Rogers, and Carabeth Copeland, and Conner Miracle.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Jerry Clay Warren; and a sister, Fayrene Smiley.
Visitation for Mrs. Barbee will be Saturday, July 19 at 5 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be Sunday, July 20 at 2 p.m. at the Clay Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Charles Meece and Bro. Jason Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Marlene Barbee Memorial Fund c/o Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
