Garner Rash

Garner H. Rash 84, of Somerset, Ky. passed away Friday, July 18, 2008 at his home. Garner was born Aug. 30, 1923 in Dahl, Ky. to the late Thelmer and Zula Hansford Rash.
On Oct. 9, 1945 Sylvia and Garner were united in marriage in Rossville, Ga.
To their union was born one son, Jerry, of Somerset, Ky.
Garner served in the United States Army in World War II and was decorated with four Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart and he was a member of the DAV and VFW.
Garner was the owner of the Somerset City bus service and drove for over 30 years. He was was also employed with Hinkle Construction Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia; his parents; an infant sister, Patricia; and a brother, Thelmer Rash Jr.
He is survived by his son, Jerry (and Julia) Rash, of Somerset; two grandaughters, Joy (and Gary) Ball, of Somerset, and Jill Stringer (and Kevin), of Norris, Tenn.; and his sister Peggy Ann Rash, of Somerset. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Kyle Ball, Joshua Stringer, and Kala Stringer.
Visitation for Garner Rash will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of Somerset Undertaking & Crematory.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 21 at the chapel of Somerset Undertaking & Crematory at 10 a.m. with military honors provided by the American Legion Post no. 38. Interment will be at the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
Garner will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
