Paris Norton, 85, of Lower Line Creek Road in Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born in Cedarville, Ky. on June 23, 1923, son of the late Joe and Mahalia Hall Norton. He was retired from Ikerd and Bandy Coal Company and a member of Line Creek Baptist Church. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Rozella Burdine Norton; five sons, Jay’C (and Debbie) Norton of Indianapolis, Ind., Charles (and Jo Ellen) Norton of New Palestine, Ind., Wayne Norton of Indianapolis, Ind., Junior (and Lisa) Norton of Indianapolis, Ind., and Anthony (and Susie) Norton of Lebanon, Ind.; five daughters, Lucille (and Jim) Vaught of Somerset, Annabelle (and Gary) Matherly of Greenwood, Ind., Arlene Wiggins of Indianapolis, Ind., Kathy (and Buddy) Barnett of Somerset and Candy (and Eddie) Ping of Somerset; one brother, Carl (and Thelma) Norton of Lockland, Ohio; 34 grandchildren, Scotty, Donny, Tangy, Lisa, Kim, Toby, Robbie, Tracy, Craig, Jason, Amanda, Kim, Brent, Stephanie, Chasity, Sonya, Tonya, Melissa, Haley, Tyler, Josh, Brandy, Taylor, Alisha, Brandon, Chrissy, Dusty, Brandon, Adrian, Emily, Lyle, Julie, Heather and Jessica; and 35 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Phillip Norton; nine brothers, Jess, Gilbert, Russell, Lester, Cossie, Claude, Lewis, Clell and Bert Norton; one sister, Etta Dyer, one grandson, Jeremy O’Neil, one great-grandson, Cody Christopher Nix; and one son-in-law, Jerry Nix.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 9 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Jack Harris, Bro. Scotty Nix and Bro. Buddy Barnett officiating and military honors by American Legion Post no. 38.
Burial will be in Hibbard Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
