Hobert Dee "Red" Haste, 84, of Bethelridge, Ky. passed away Friday, Aug. 28, 2009 at Casey County Hospital.
He was born in Casey County, Ky. on Sept. 8, 1924, son of the late Jason and Abbie Warren Haste. He was a farmer and a member of Bethelridge United Methodist Church. He was a retired magistrate for Casey County Road Department. He also worked at Farmers Tobacco Warehouse and Pulaski County Livestock Market for many years. He was the bass singer for the Haste Quartet.
He is survived by four sons, Louis Ray (and Peggy) Randolph and Ronald Dee (and Louise) Haste, both of Bethelridge, Roger Lee (and Glenda) Haste of Somerset and William David Haste of Sparta, Ky.; one daughter, Darlene Delora (and Phillip "Flap") Godbey of Bethelridge; two brothers, Harold Haste of Waynesburg and Virgil Haste of Bethelridge; one sister, Sarah Jane Hendricks of Eubank; 11 grandchildren, Boyd Randolph, Gregory Haste, Helen Pfeifer, Scotty Godbey, Dewayne Haste, Casey Haste, Stephen Haste, Andrea Adams, Jessica Phelps, Daniel Haste and Hobie Haste; one step-grandchild, Matthew Lee; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Amy Rillis Hughes Haste, whom he married on Aug. 27, 1942; his parents; one son, Daniel Clay Haste; daughter-in-law, Clarissa Haste; one sister, Mazie Morris; and three grandchildren, Verona and Bonita Randolph and Dale Godbey.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009 at Bethelridge United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Bethelridge Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Monday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
