Cody Wilson
Commonwealth Journal
Martin Cody Wilson, 25, passed away at his apartment in Bowling Green, Ky., where he was a student studying to be a lawyer at Western Kentucky University, on Monday, Oct. 6, 2008.
Cody, as he was known by his family and friends, is survived by his parents, Bill and Becky Wilson of Jamestown, Ky.; two brothers, Willie Wilson of Somerset, Ky., and Eli Wilson of Winchester, Va.; his soon-to-be sister-in-law, Alisha Tarter of Somerset; and his step-grandmother, Joanne Wilson of Jamestown. Many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also survive.
Cody is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leonard E. Wilson and Defern S. Wilson of Jamestown; his maternal grandparents, William L. Colyer and Helen Holtzclaw of Somerset; and his uncle, Robert L. Wilson of Jamestown.
Cody’s infectious smile and outgoing personality are remembered by all that knew him. He enjoyed sports, both playing and attending games, music and attending concerts, loving animals, and simply being Cody Wilson. Some people march to a different drummer. Cody carried his own drum that no one else could match. His short life affected all that knew him.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Jamestown Methodist Church with burial at the Jamestown Cemetery. The family requests that any memorial contributions be sent to the City of Jamestown, P.O. Box 587, Jamestown, Ky., 42629, where a memorial fund has been established to assist the upgrade of the basketball court at the Jamestown City Park, where Cody spent many hours “shooting hoops.”
The family would appreciate any “Cody Stories” that his friends would like to share with them. They can be e-mailed to wrwecwil@duo-county.com.
Obituary information provided by H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, Jamestown, Ky.
