Ivah Belle Brown Dean, 87, of Somerset, Ky., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home.
She was born on May 16, 1922, in Delmer, Ky., the daughter of the late Robert Emory and Emma Myrtle Tarter Brown. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Dean is survived by her daughter, Verna JoAnn Wenck Murphy of New Mexico; a grandson, Greg Voiles; a great granddaughter, Katie Voiles; a sister, Evelyn Brown Hislope of Springboro, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Eva Brown of Science Hill, Ky., and Irene Turpen Brown of Somerset; two stepdaughters, Kathy Hall and Helen Stringer, both of Somerset; four step grandchildren, Kim Humble, Shane Humble, Isaac Stringer, and Zachary Hall; a step great granddaughter, Sydney Humble; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; first husband, Herbert Wenck; second husband, Charley Dean; two sisters, Thelma Brown Gossett Barnett and Doris Myrtle Brown; three brothers, Roma Nick Brown, Roy Richard Brown, and Linville Clyde Brown; and some nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mrs. Dean will be today, Oct. 24, from 6-8:30 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Hwy. 80, Somerset.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Dr. Greg Ryan officiating.
Graveside service will be held for Mrs. Dean on Monday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m. at the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Ky.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, Ky., 42503.
