Melba Ray Deweese Farris, born Oct. 22, 1920 in Rockwall, Texas. Passed away on Nov. 8, 2009 at Autumn Leaves Nursing Center.

Preceded in death by father Homer Deweese, mother Reba Willingham Deweese, brother Homer B. Deweese, and great-grandson William Chadwick Girdler.

She is survived by daughter Fran Girdler of Garland, Texas; son CDR Mark E. Farris USN, Ret. and wife Donna of Richmond, Ky.; sister Mary Buchanan of Dallas, Texas; three granchildren,

Bart Girdler and wife Shelli of Rockwall, Texas, Nichole Girdler of Burbank, Calif., and Melissa Ashby and husband Rodney of Richmond, Ky.; and two great-grandchildren, Collin Ashby and Landon Girdler.

She was a member of Casa Linda United Methodist Church for 38 years. She retired from First City Bank and was a longtime volunteer at Doctor's Hospital where she was active in the arts and crafts group.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff members at Autumn Leaves Nursing Center. A very special thank you is extended to Director Kathy Myers and friend Peggy Wills.

Visitation at Restland Funeral Home, 12611 Greenvillle Ave., Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorial service at Casa Linda United Methodist Church, 1800 Barnes Bridge Rd.,

Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009 at 11 a.m.
