Marie Burton

Somerset — Mrs. Marie Burton, age 86 of Brodhead, Ky., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013 at Somerset Nursing andRehabilitation in Somerset, Ky.

Mrs. Burton was born on March 11, 1927 in Preachersville, Ky., a daughter of the late Owen and Hettie Rigsby Duvall. She had been a dedicated 18-year employee of Cowden Manufacturing in Stanford, Ky. She was a member of the Fairview Church of Christ, and she enjoyed collecting antiques, attending auction sales, quilting, sewing and gardening. In July of 1950 she was united in matrimony to Owen Burton, and from that union came two daughters.

Mrs. Burton is survived by her husband of 63 years, Owen Burton of Brodhead, Ky.; two daughters, Gail Burton Ledford Keith (Garry) of Somerset, Ky. and Janet Burton Parsons (Randy) of Bronston, Ky.; two grandchildren, Michele Blanton (Bruce) of Bagdad, Ky. and Kristal Mattingly (Matthew) of Shelbyville, Ky.; five great-grandchildren, Trenton Taylor, Bailey Mattingly, Kaden Mattingly, April Blanton, and Abigail Blanton, one sister, Dorothy Jane Duvall of Somerset, Ky.; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Burton was preceded in death by five brothers, Raymond, Clarence, Henry, Bobby, and Sammy Duvall.

Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Burton will be conducted on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Curt Herrington officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairview Church of Christ Cemetery.

Visitation for Mrs. Marie Burton will be held on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 from 9 a.m. until time of services at the Marvin E. Owens Homefor Funerals.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to the Fairview Church of Christ Cemetery or the Preachersville Cemetery.
