Somerset — Harold Bray

Harold Gregory Bray, age 83, of Somerset, Ky. departed this life on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, Ky.

Harold was born on Dec. 11, 1929, in Tateville, Ky. to the late Lum and Cholston Haynes Bray. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War. He married Mary Margaret Flynn on April 2, 1959, in Jellico, Tenn. They have enjoyed 54 years of marriage together. He was of the Baptist faith and attended the New Enterprise Baptist Church. Harold loved to hunt, go fishing and do gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; a son, Steven (and Melinda) Bray, of Somerset, Ky.; a daughter, Mary Ann (and Robert) Everhart, of Nicholasville, Ky.; two brothers, Columbus “Bud” Bray, of Burnside, Ky. and Gene Bray, of Somerset, Ky.; and one granddaughter, Jordyn Bray.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Hayden Bray; and three sisters, Margaret Dearmon, Anna Jordan and Flora Lee Gibson.

Visitation for Mr. Bray will be held on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013 at 4 p.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

His funeral service will be held on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Dudley Bryant and Bro. Steve Bray officiating.

Interment will be in the Quinton Cemetery, Bronston, Ky.  

Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.

Members of Harold's family will serve as pallbearers.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Gideons International for Gideon Bible placements.

Mary Foley

Mary Louise Ferrell Foley, the daughter of Billy K. Ferrell and Margie Decker Montgomery, was born on Dec. 7, 1972 and she departed this life on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 in Somerset, Ky. having attained the age of 40 years.

Survivors include her father, Billy Ferrell and his significant other Georgia Carrender; her mother, Margie Montgomery and her significant other, Riley Passmore; two sisters, Elizabeth Bennett and Beverly Dalton; one brother, Roger Ferrell; and seven nephews and nieces, Destiny Sue Ferrell, Shawn Dawson Irvine, Misty Galloway, Christopher Davis, Trinity Georgetta Dalton, Stryder Dean Dalton and Xander Dalton.

Mary enjoyed working on computers and she enjoyed Facebook. She was a kind person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 at the chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Alexander Chapel Cemetery.

The family of Mary Foley will receive friends at Pulaski Funeral Home from 12 p.m. Monday until time for services.

Everett and Linda Garland

Everett Allen Garland, 64 and Linda McMullin Garland, 60, of Joe McMullin Road in Eubank, Ky. departed this life together on Nov. 20, 2012.

Everett was born in Danville, Ill. on April 1, 1949, son of the late Jesse and Zora Smith Garland. He was a Vietnam veteran and retired from Crane Plumbing. He was a member of Eubank Baptist Church.  

Linda was born in Somerset, Ky. on April 30, 1953, daughter of the late Coy and Bernice Wesley McMullin. She was a homemaker and former employee of Paul’s Discount. She was a member of Eubank Baptist Church.

They are survived by one daughter, Rhonda Wilson (and Gene Morrison) of Hustonville, Ky., and one son, Russell “Rusty” Garland (and Amanda) of Eubank; one grandson, Travis (and Jessica) Wilson of Tellico Plains, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Allison Wilson of Eubank; and one great-grandson, Lawson Wilson of Tellico Plains, Tenn.

Everett is survived by three brothers, Jerry (and Nancy) Garland, Ron (and Jan) Garland and David (and Margaret) Garland, and one sister, Lori (and Mike) Harbaugh, all of Ill.

Linda is survived by one brother, Doug (and Gina) McMullin, and one sister, Dianne (and Tim) Smith, both of Eubank.

They are also survived by eight nieces, seven nephews, eight great-nieces, nine great-nephews, and a host of friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today, Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Shelby Reynolds and Bro. Sammie Adkins officiating.

Burial will be in Eubank Cemetery.

Edward Sears

Edward Sears, 89, of Somerset, Ky., passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2013.

He was born in Pulaski County, Ky. on Feb. 21, 1924, son of the late William Robert and Sarah Helen Stogsdill Sears. He was a telecommunications employee for RCA. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in Dec. 1942. He attended sonar school in San Diego, Calif. and Great Lakes, Ill. He then served on the USS SC 774 and the USS SC 658. He was honorably discharged in Nov. 1945.

He is survived by two children, Pat Sears Eddinger (and John) and Edward Alan Sears (and Lin Hamilton); four grandchildren, Jennifer Eddinger Coutee (and Adam), David Eddinger (and Missy), Cory Sears Holloway (and Todd) and Jonathan Sears (and Anita); and nine great-grandchildren, Riley Coutee, Landon Coutee, Marin Coutee, Jackson Eddinger, Lucas Holloway, Payton Holloway, Kelsey Sears, Nathan Sears and Isiah Sears.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred “Mimi” Vitatoe Sears, whom he married on Aug. 31, 1946 and who died on Jan. 26, 1997; his parents; and two brothers, Vestal Sears and Earl Sears.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Green officiating.

Burial will be in Barnesburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Center.

June Sears

Mrs. June C. Sears, age 68 of Somerset, Ky. was born at Ula, Ky. on Sept. 24, 1945 and she departed this life on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 in Somerset, Ky.

She leaves behind her husband, Mr. Charles Sears; three surviving children; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces and other family members who mourn her passing.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 at the chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Dalous Sears officiating.

Burial will follow in the Goodwater Cemetery.

The family of Mrs. June C. Hyden Sears will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013.

Lois Stanley

Lois Catherine Stanley, age 79, of Somerset, Ky., departed this life on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 at her residence.  

Lois was born on Aug. 15, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late William and Mildred (Hawthorne) Daly. She attended the United Methodist Church in Somerset, Ky.   

Lois is survived by her husband, Dallas Ruble Stanley, whom she married on April 9, 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio; one son, Dallas S. (and Dr. Pamela Jensen) Stanley of Somerset, Ky.; one daughter, Debra D. (and Charles) Clifton of Loveland Ohio; one sister, Donna (and John) Parrish of Milford, Ohio; four grandchildren, Dawn (and Haim) Grinspan, Dominick Colangelo, Logan Stanley and Sierra Stanley; two great-grandchildren, Dante Colangelo and Aria Colangelo; a nephew, John Parrish; and a niece, Rachel Logsdon.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date, with her burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Blue Ash, Ohio.
