Nellie Baker
Nellie Baker, 86, of Somerset passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014 at the Jean Waddle Hospice of Lake Cumberland Care Center. 
She was born Feb. 28, 1927 in Bronston, Ky. to the late David Wesley and Ella Mae East Hollars.
Nellie is survived by two daughters, Stella Jean (Larry) Aker and Shirley Lynn (John) Pittman, both of Somerset, Ky.; and one sister, Shirley Jean Hollars Mason of Mt. Pulaski, Ill.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Brandy Walters, Brandon Pittman, Carlie Pittman and Kayden Pittman.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Ellis Price; a grandson, James Ellis Price Jr.; seven brothers, Ralph, Roy, Raymond, Allen, Willie, Starling, and Richard Hollars; and three sisters, Ida Mae Hollars, Hattie Luken, Maude Hancock.
Nellie worked as a C.N.A. at Cumberland Nursing and Rehabilitation.
A graveside service will be held at Somerset Cemetery on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 at 2 p.m. with Bro. William Brown officiating, with burial to follow in the Somerset Cemetery.
The family of Nellie Baker will receive friends at Pulaski Funeral Home from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 at Pulaski Funeral Home.
Pulaski Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
 
Michael Beal
Micheal Beal, of Hustonville, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, from injuries sustained in a car accident near Liberty, Ky. He was 26.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Martin officiating. 
Burial is in Whited Cemetery.
Visitation is Monday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. 
Pallbearers are Otniel Mina, Derek Riddle, Travis Quinn, David Poncer, Zack Brown, Alex Ashley, and Jimmy Ashley. 
Honorary pallbearers are Andrew and Jeffrey Beal.

Ada Collins
Ada Skaggs Collins, age 88, of Somerset, Ky., departed this life on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center.
Ada was born on Tuesday, July 28, 1925 in Fallsburg, Ky. to the late Forrest D. and Pluma (Collingsworth) Damron. She was a homemaker and a member of Burnside United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, David (and Ruth) Skaggs of Somerset, Ky.; a daughter, Diana Louise Skaggs of Bronston, Ky.; a sister; Dorothy Atkins of Niceville, Fla.; two grandchildren, Shane (and DeAngela) Skaggs of Somerset, Ky.; Samantha (and Chad) Stykes of Somerset, Ky.; four great-grandchildren, Jayden Skaggs, Landon Stykes, Levi Stykes, and Logan Stykes.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilmer H. Skaggs, whom she married on April 3 of 1946, in Columbus, Ohio and who preceded her on Nov. 3, 1961; a second husband, Opha Collins, whom she married on April 8 of 1977, in Wartburg, Tenn. and who preceded her on July 20, 2005; and a brother, Jack Damron.
Visitation for Ada Collins will be Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 at 6 p.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. 
Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with David Skaggs, Shane Skaggs, and Chad Stykes officiating. 
Burial will be Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland, Ky. 
Pallbearers will be Chad Stykes, Shane Skaggs, Jayden Skaggs, Landon Stykes, Levi Stykes and Logan Stykes.

Art Hibbard
Art Hibbard, age 71, of North Fishing Creek Road in Kings Mountain, passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014 at his residence. 
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford with Rev. Robert McFalls officiating the service. 
Art’s grandsons, Larry Fletcher, Eddie Manning, Jerry McFalls, Doug Padgett, and Johnny Lay, will serve as active pallbearers. Art’s great-grandchildren, Diane Mounce, Linda Grigson, and Regina Phillips, will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Patricia Hobson
Patricia Ann Hobson, age 60, of Eubank, Ky., departed this life on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014 at Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center.
Patricia was born on Jan. 13, 1954 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Robert and Opal (Nelson) Dick.  
She is survived by her husband, Harold P. Hobson, whom she married on Nov. 2, 1979 in Maineville, Ohio; two sons, Robert W. Hobson of Eubank, Ky. and Everhett P. Hobson of Eubank, Ky.; three brothers, Terry (and Rhonda) Dick of Maineville, Ohio, Gerald Dick of Burnside, Ky. and Kevin Dick of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Debra (and Dave) of Cincinnati, Ohio; one grandchild, Trevor Wyatt Paul Hobson; along with many nieces and nephews.  
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother; Jerry Lee Dick.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.  
Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Father Jeffrey Estacio officiating.
Burial will be at Eubank City Cemetery.

Tonia McClanahan
Tonia Lee McClanahan, age 42 of Somerset, Ky. and formerly of Whitley City, Ky., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014 at her home. 
She was born on Feb. 8, 1971 in Somerset, Ky. to Helen Keith Fuson and the late Thomas Doyle Fuson. Tonia was of the Church of God faith and a 1989 graduate of McCreary Central High School where she was a member of the Madrigals Choir. She made the Dean's List several times, was a member of Who's Who, and she enjoyed crafts and photography. 
She was preceded in death by her father, and her husband, James Earl McClanahan. 
She is survived by her mother, Helen Fuson of Whitley City, Ky.; a daughter, Emily Ann McClanahan of Somerset, Ky.; one brother, Thomas Doyle (Lexi) Fuson II of Bronston, Ky.; two sisters, Trina Fuson Hooper of Whitley City, Ky. and Tracy Fuson McCormick of Somerset, Ky.; three nieces, Tiffany Langford, Robyn McCormick and Abbigail McCormick; and three nephews, Toby Hooper, Matthew McCormick and Samuel Fuson. 
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 after 11 a.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. 
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Thomas Doyle Fuson ll officiating. 
Burial will be in the Keith-Morrow Cemetery in McCreary County, Ky.

Buddy Meece
Buddy Gene Meece, age 81, of Hamilton, Ohio, formerly of Somerset, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Hospice of Hamilton.
The funeral service for Buddy Meece will be held on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at 12 p.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. 
Full military honors will be performed by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard. 
Interment will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery.

Tempie Stogsdill
Tempie Jane Stogsdill, age 80,  of the Grundy community, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was born on Nov. 28, 1933 in Grundy, Ky. to the late Willis Whitson and Eva Simpson Whitson. Tempie married Oliver Neil Stogsdill on Jan. 8, 1953 and dedicated herself to keeping her home and raising her family. Tempie was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church #1.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Kaye Hargis (Randy) of Somerset, and Alma Lee Bingham (and the late John) of Science Hill; her sons, William Jesse Stogsdill (Wilma) and James Willis Stogsdill both of Somerset; two brothers, James Whitson and Albert Whitson (Elaine), and two sisters, Hannah Bradley (James) and Ethal Bradley, all of Somerset; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Tempie was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Gene O'Neil Stogsdill; and two sisters, Mildred Stogsdill and Alta Sears; and a grandson, Donald Roy Bingham.
Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 after 6 p.m. at the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Co. 
A service celebrating the life of Tempie J. Stogsdill will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Co. with Bro. Doug Egger's officiating.  
Burial will follow in the Burkhart-Fellowship Cemetery at Shopville, Ky.

Joann Wallen
Zona “Joann” Wallen, age 72, of Somerset, Ky., departed this life on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center.
Joann was born on Dec. 26, 1941, in the Naomi community of Pulaski County to the late Taylor and Frona Flynn. She was a long-time employee of the Palm Beach Company in Somerset. Joann was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. 
She is survived by her son, Rodney (and Teresa) Todd, of Somerset, Ky.; her daughter, Jacklyn (and William) Bales, of Raleigh, N.C.; and her granddaughter, Megan Bales, of Raleigh, N.C.
Preceding Joann in death were her parents; her husband, Joe Wallen, who passed away Jan. 5, 2010; her two brothers, Darold Flynn and Luid Flynn; and her sister, Christine Dalton.
Visitation for Joann will be Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. 
Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Bro. Gary Phelps officiating.
Interment will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

Joni Watts-Claunch
Joni Watts-Claunch, age 36, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. 
Joni was a ray of sunshine, and she always wore a beautiful smile and had loving and kind words for everyone she met. Joni, with her warm and engaging personality, was always ready to help those in need. Two years ago God opened the door for Joni to become a mother to two beautiful children, Abagail and Anthony Watts-Claunch, whom she loved with all her heart. She has touched many lives and her legacy will live on in her two beautiful children and in the hearts of all who loved her. 
Joni attended the University of Kentucky and was employed by PNC Bank of Lexington. She was an active member in the Ladies Leads of Lexington and founder of BNI of Lexington. 
Joni was born on Aug. 6, 1977 in Ashland, Ky. to the late Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dean and Sandra Gail Watts. 
She is survived by her husband, Richard F. Claunch II, whom she married on Oct. 20, 2007; a daughter, Abagail Watts-Claunch; and a son Anthony Watts-Claunch. 
She is also survived by her father- and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Claunch of Nancy, Ky. 
Other survivors are a brother, Jason Dean Watts; and sister, Teresa Renee Watts Campbell. 
A memorial service is being held for Joni's friends and family on Feb. 9 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bell House On Bell Court. 
The family asks that expressions of sympathy be made to the education fund that has been set up at Forcht Bank at 1846 South U.S. 27, Somerset, Ky., 42501 in the care of Rosemary Bray.
