Elton Fitzgerald
Elton Kyle Fitzgerald, 82 of Somerset, Ky., passed away on March 29, 2014 at his home. 
He was born on February 2, 1932 in Hislope, Ky., to the late Hugh Fitzgerald and Norma Richardson Fitzgerald Nieswander. 
Elton served in the United States Navy and was an active aircraft mechanic. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Nancy, Ky. where he formerly served as Trustee. He was also a former Trustee of Norfleet Baptist Cemetery, was a retired farmer and enjoyed bird hunting and watching UK Basketball. He graduated from Nancy High School in 1951. 
He is preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Welcher E. and Loretta Tarter Richardson; and two sisters, Kathy Bantz and Kyle Fitzgerald. 
He is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Trimble Fitzgerald, whom he married on July 16, 1956 in Ringgold, Ga.; one son, Gregory Allen (and Mary Sue) Fitzgerald of Somerset, Ky.; one brother, L.B. (and Beverly) Neiswander of Melvin, Ill.; a special cousin, Richard (and Sandra) Richardson of Peoria, Ill. Also survived by two grandchildren, Matthew Fitzgerald, Chelsie Fitzgerald; three step-grandchildren, Chris Pierce, Chad Pierce, Lisa Anderson; and eight step-great grandchildren. 
Visitation was held on Monday, March 31, 2014 after 5 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. 
Funeral Services was held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Lester Caldwell officiating. 
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Ky., with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard. 
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Norfleet Cemetery Fund C/O Morris Norfleet. 
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 
 
Kathleen Hammond
Kathleen Hammond, 76, of Somerset, Ky., passed away on March 30, 2014 at her home. 
She was born on April 18, 1937 in Kidder Community of Wayne County, Ky., to the late Everett and Myrtie Keith Hammond. 
Kathleen accepted Christ as her Savior on December, 30, 2013 and was of the Baptist faith. She was a retired housekeeper for Holiday Inn and enjoyed puzzles, visiting Goodwill and the Peddlars Mall, shopping and spending time with her family. 
She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Maxcine Weaver. Also preceded by a grandson, Brandon Hammond. 
She is survived by three sons, Donny (and Star) Hammond of Somerset, Ky., Forrest (and Judith) Hammond of St. Cloud, Fla., and Keith (and Kim) Hammond of Nancy, Ky.;. three brothers, Bobby Hammond of Somerset, Ky., Gale (and Judy) Hammond of St. Cloud, Fla., and Mike (and Sue) Hammond of Nancy, Ky.; two sisters, Dora Riggs of Somerset, Ky., and Barbara Emerson of Somerset, Ky.; five grandchildren, April (and Kevin) Staats, Whitley Hammond, Jordan Hammond, Mariah Hammond and Gracie Hammond; and two great-grandchildren, Kara Staats and Logan Staats. She is also survived
by of a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. 
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 after 6pm in the Memory Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. 
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday April 2, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the Memory Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Griffith and Bro. David Muse officiating. 
Burial will follow in the Baker Cemetery in Nancy, KY. 
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

Ivan Harness
Ivan Eugene Harness, 77, went to be with his Heavenly Father, Sunday, March 30, 2014 at his home in Carter Ridge, Ky., in the presence of his family. He had accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior with family by his side. 
Ivan was born October 29, 1936, in the Carter Ridge Community.  
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Fern Harness, who passed away July 9, 2010.  They were united in marriage for 56 years at the time of her passing. Also preceding him were his parents, Phillip and Lila Harness; one brother, Eldon Harness; and one infant son, Alvin Dean Harness.
Survivors include his sons and daughter, Eugene (and Lewanne) Harness of Mintonville, Ky., Wanda (and Ben) Garland, of Nancy, Ky., Gerald (and Delta Latham) Harness, of Carter Ridge, Ky., Norman Harness, of Carter Ridge, Ky., and Gary (and Regina) Harness, of Somerset, Ky.; nine grandchildren, Kelly (and Kenny) Keener, Michelle (and Thomas) Yadon, Chris (and Kathy) Harness, Jami Harness, Amy Harness, Lori (and Keith) Scholl, Kasey (and Cliff) Rogers, Tracy (and Adam) Childress and Shayla Harness; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; and Larry "Buck" Wesley,
his dear friend.
Ivan retired from Crane Plumbing. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed farming and fishing.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.  
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the funeral home chapel with Bro. Brant Lane officiating.  
Burial will be in the Carter Ridge Cemetery.  
Military Honors will be performed by the American Legion Post 38 Honor Guard.  
Pallbearers will be Larry "Buck" Wesley, Ben Garland, Mike Ratliff, Jeff Wilson, Tom Dick and Chip McAuliffe.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Carter Ridge Cemetery or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
