Somerset — Irene Dagley

Irene Marie Dagley, age 83 of Somerset, Ky. passed away Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 at the Golden Years Nursing Home in Wayne County, Ky.

She was born on Sept. 27, 1930 in the Ringgold community to the late George Thomas and Sylvia McLin Stringer.

She was former Co-Owner and Operator of Dagley Market in Somerset, Ky. and she enjoyed flowers and yard work.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delbert Dagley, to whom she was married to for over 56 years; a brother, Goldie Stringer; and three sisters, Jenniav Girdler,  Ann Thompson and her husband Wendell, and Faye Lester and her husband Henry.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Susie Kaye Stringer of Somerset, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 after 11 a.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Keith McKim officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Ringgold Cemetery Fund.

Keith Haggard

Keith Haggard, 46, of Science Hill, Ky., passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2013.

Arrangements are pending and will be announced later by Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Howard Johnson

Howard Martin Johnson, age 78 of Bronston, Ky. passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on Aug. 22, 1935 in Quinton, Ky. to the late Charles Martin and Anna Hardwick Johnson.

He was a retired pipe fitter, a US Army Veteran, a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church #2 in Bronston, Ky., and he served as an adult Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed fishing, reading the Bible, and he loved his family dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nevada Flynn.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Herzog Johnson, whom he married on Jan. 9, 1965 in Amhurst, Ohio; two sons, Don Johnson of Loraine, Ohio and Douglas Martin (Debbie) Johnson of Somerset, Ky.; and one daughter, Rhonda Barker of Loraine, Ohio.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Rachel Yates, Ryan Yates, Randy Foster, Brittney Goff, Kimberly Goff, Jason Johnson and Jeffery Johnson.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 after 5 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Bert Herzog officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by the American Legion Honor Post #38.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Howard Johnson Memorial Fund.

Joseph Miller

Joseph Miller, age 84 of Ferguson, Ky. passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2013 at his home.

He was born on April 7, 1929 in English, Ky. to the late Ernest and Helen Savage Miller.

He was a retired chef and baker and he was of the Baptist faith. At the age of 72 he held the world record for his age of dead lifting at 501 pounds in Barstow, Calif. He loved boxing and was a former wrestler of 16 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Douglas Roysdon; one brother, John Miller; and one sister, Mary Helen Sanders.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia VanTongeren Miller, whom he married on Sept. 9, 2003 in Victorville, Calif.; two daughters, Mary Helen Miller and Patty Jo Miller, both of Somerset, Ky.; four grandchildren, Johnathan Roysdon, Tina Decker, Joseph Decker and Amanda Mock; and six great-grandchildren, Annesa, Jordan, Damion, J.B., J.J. and Cody.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 after 5 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Upchurch officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, Ky.

Piccola Stevens

Piccola E. Stevens, 89, of Somerset, Ky., passed away Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 at her residence.

A graveside service will be at 12 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 at Poplar Grove Cemetery with Bro. David Green officiating.

Burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery.

Family visitation will be after 10 a.m. Thursday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to a charity of your choice.

Charles Taylor

Charles A. Taylor, 68, of Eubank, Ky., passed away Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 at his residence.

He was born in Pulaski County, Ky. on March 25, 1945, son of the late Charles M. and Zula V. Smith Taylor. He was a backhoe operator for the state of Kentucky and Don Molden. He was a member of Hazeldale Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Georgie Phelps Taylor of Eubank; and one sister, Sharon (and Bob) Measel of Eubank.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Ferlin Price officiating.

Burial will be in McKinney Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 10 a.m. today at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
