Somerset — Richard Creekmore

Richard Creekmore, 67, of Somerset, Ky., passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014.

Arrangements are pending and will be announced later by Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Beulah Jones

Beulah Catherine Edwards Jones, 95, of Somerset, Ky., departed this life on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.

Beulah was born on July 7, 1918 to the late D.C. and Pearl Snell Edwards of Dykes, Ky. She married Earl Edward Jones Sr. of Mt. Victory on June 10, 1936.  They had six children, 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the Mt. Victory Christian Church where she attended as long as her health permitted. She was a retired seamstress of Palm Beach Company, she loved to cook, garden, and by Earl’s side at the sawmill or just “going to the country.”  She enjoyed quilting and crafts and just having family get together and reunions. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.

She is survived by three sons, David (and Edna) Jones, W.N. (and Pearlie) Jones, Earl Edward Jr. (and Carleen) Jones; two daughters, Gailya (and Norris) Whitaker, Kathy (and Larry) Morgan and son-in-law James Mize; 14 grandchildren. Dylan (and Connie) Jones, Barry (and Bridget) Whitaker, Roger Jones, Billy (and Judy) Jones, Sheila (and Danny) Ramsey, Kevin (and Sherri) Jones, Laura (and Jason) Todd, Lynelle Wood, Jeanette Stringer, Noreen (and Paul) Bekish, Christi (and Jason) Burkhead, Jamie (and Billy) Bolin, Holly (and George) Zachos, and Tracy (and Matthew) Phillips; sister-in-law, Helen Ruth Edwards; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Freida

Mize; a daughter-in-law, Kathryn Prows Jones; and a grandchild, Julie Jones;

five brothers; Bishop, Virgil, Ray, Elmer, and Ira Edwards; and three sisters, Mae Whitis, Carrie Jenkins and Thelma Worrell.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. David Paddick and Bro. Stanley Sears officiating.  

Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

The family of Beulah Catherine Edwards Jones will receive friends on Friday, January 17, 2014 after 6 p.m. at the Pulaski Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers family request expression of sympathy be made to the Hospice of Lake Cumberland and/or Gideon Memorial Bible Plan.

Anthony Keith

Anthony "Tony" Wayne Keith, 46, of Wilmer, Ala., departed this life on Saturday, January 11, 2014 in Mobile, Ala.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 12 p.m. at the Chapel of

Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Bro. Ulanda Price officiating.  

Interment will be in Liberty Cemetery in Kidder, Ky.  Tony's cousins will serve as pallbearers.

Leslie Marcum

Leslie "Chink" Marcum, 68 of Ferguson, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center.

Morris Vaught

Morris Stephen Vaught, 74, affectionately known as "Steve" or "Big Boy", of Science Hill, Ky., passed away at his home in the presence of his family on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 after a long illness.

He was born on October 20, 1939 to the late Thomas and Matrie Vaught of the Vaught Ridge Community in Pulaski County.  He was united in marriage to Nina Jasper Vaught on January 28, 1960, sharing their lives and raising their family for 54 happy years. Steve was a member of Vaught Ridge Church of Christ.  

He retired from General Electric, Somerset Plant, where he worked for 24 years, prior to that, he was an employee of Formica in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He loved horse riding and was an avid hunter, who enjoyed working with his beagles.  He also loved his gardening. He graduated from PCHS in 1958.

Steve is survived by his wife, Nina Vaught; four children, Pam (and Gerald) Brinson of Science Hill, Jill Vaught of Somerset, Penny (and Steve) Dye of Science Hill and Andy (and Kara) Vaught of Somerset; seven grandchildren, Jonathan (and Brandie) Brinson, Russell (and Krista) Abner, Hillary (and Hank) Schultz, Rachel (andTeddy) Bragg, Jacob Vaught, Emily Vaught and Josh Dye; and one great-grandchild, Haley Bragg. He is also survived by one brother, Norman (and Lena) Vaught, and one sister; Glenice (and Roger) McAninch; one aunt, Lorene Vaught; and also a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Withers; brother-in-law, Roy Withers; niece Kimberly Withers; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Claude and Odessa Jasper; brothers-in-law, Albert Theve, Harold Dudley and Fred Lutterbei; and sister-in-law, Sandra Jasper.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Craig officiating.

Burial will be in Vaught Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 6 PM today, Friday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please send donations to Vaught Ridge Cemetery Fund, C/O Tim Hines 1634 Vaught Ridge Rd., Science Hill, Ky., 42553.

 James Watkins

James "Wilford" Watkins, 85, of Somerset, Ky., departed this life on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Visitation for Mr. Watkins will be on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at 6 p.m. at the chapel of lake Cumberland Funeral Home.  

His funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.  

Bro. David Pendley will officiate.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
