She is survived by one son, Gary (and Dolores) Skaggs of Lexington, Ky.; three daughters, Charlotte (and Arthur) Short of Georgetown, Ky., Sadie (and Denton) Barron and Rita (and Eddie) Phelps, both of Somerset; daughter-in-law, Nina Skaggs of Somerset; two sisters, Josie Prows of Somerset and Grace Poynter of Greencastle, Imd.; 13 grandchildren, Richard, Harold and Harley Skaggs, Karen Short Borders, Scott Short, David, Brenda and Randy Barron, Justin Ramsey, Jennifer Todd, Jill Luckett, Ryan Gayheart and Tabatha Crabtree; 22 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. "Crit" Skaggs, whom she married on December 25, 1937 in Jamestown, Ky., and who died on June 29, 2006; her parents; two sons, Everett G. Skaggs and Jerry L. Skaggs; three grandchildren, Kathy J. Barron, Mark A. Ramsey and Joyce A. Smith; three brothers, Loran, Elbert and Junior Burton; and one sister, Pearlie Miller.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Friday, April 25, 2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Dunbar officiating.
Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today, Thursday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
A special thank you to Dr. Robert Drake for the care that he gave to Hattie.

Marie Vaughn
Marie Vaughn, 76, of Somerset, Ky., departed this life on Monday, April 21, 2014 at her residence.
Marie was born on April 19, 1938, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to the late Norman and Daisy Palle Loco. She married Denny Vaughn in San Diego, Calif. They have three children from their union. Marie was a homemaker and loved to quilt.
She is survived by their three children, Freddie Vaughn, of Friendship, Ind., Daisy (and Eddie) Glover, of Somerset, and Laura Vaughn, also of Somerset; two sisters, JoAnn (and Bill) Hurta, of Joliet, Ill., and Teresa Sanders, of Lawton, Okla.; three grandchildren, Krista (and Chad) Merritt, Jack G. (and Rhonda) Hobbs, and Nathan Vaughn; one great-grandson, Logan Merritt; and a close, personal, family friend, Maxine Hislope.
