Laura Anderson

Somerset — Laura Holland Elmore Anderson, 85, of Somerset, Ky., departed this life on Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born on April 15, 1925, in Leitchfield, Ky., to the late Thomas Burton Holland and Edna Patterson Holland. Mrs. Anderson was a self-employed beautician, owner and operator of Pops Beauty Shop in Leitchfield from the 1950s through the 1970s, and member of the First Baptist Church of Leitchfield. She was a member of the D.A.R., Leitchfield Hospital Auxiliary, and founding member of the 50 Plus Club in Leitchfield. Mrs. Anderson loved genealogy, crocheting, and knitting. She enjoyed being involved with her church, playing cards and board games, and was an accomplished artist.

Mrs. Anderson is survived by a son, Donald W. (and Susan)  Elmore of Somerset, Ky.; his extended children, Gary (and Ruth) Elmore of Gallatin, Ky., Kenny (and Brenda) Elmore of Cecilia, Ky., Jimmy (and Annette) Elmore of Cecilia, Ky., and Timmy Elmore of Cecilia, Ky., Patty Elmore of Elizabethtown, Ky., Donna Watson of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Tammy (and Dale) Keplinger of Elizabethtown, Ky.; a brother, Billy (and Billie Jean) Holland of Worthington, Ky.; a sister, Nancy Hughes Smith of Pekin, Ind.; two grandchildren, Christopher (and Linda) Elmore and Jessica (and Brendan) Becker; two great grandchildren, Brian Becker and Reagan Becker; all of the extended Anderson and Patterson families; several nieces and nephews, and her pet dog, Zollie.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Elmore; second husband, Charles H. Anderson; three brothers, Lorenzo Holland, Tommy Holland, and Bobby Holland; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Miller.

Visitation will be today, Dec. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset, and then Friday, Dec. 17, from 6 to 9 CST p.m. at the Watson & Hunt Funeral Home in Leitchfield, Ky.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. CST on Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Chapel of Watson & Hunt Funeral Home in Leitchfield.

Burial will be in the Memory Gardens in Leitchfield.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland and/or Burnside Masonic Lodge Widows Fund.

Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Laura Holland Elmore Anderson.
