Mary Bernice Brown, 85, of Somerset, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was born on Jan. 12, 1929, daughter of the late John Walter and Mary Alice Todd Brown. She retired as a lab assistant from Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Somerset, and a member of the Eastern Star.
Bernice graduated from Eubank High School in 1948, and Belmont Business School in Nashville, Tenn. She worked at the Southern Baptist School Board in Nashville for approximately 20 years and returned to Somerset in 1971, and she was employed at Somerset City and Lake Cumberland Regional Hospitals, where she worked until retirement.
She is survived by her sisters, Anna Brown of Woodstock, Wilma B. West of Somerset, Rose (and Bob) Richardson of White Lily, and Berdina Grady of Greenwood, Ind.; two half-sisters, Elizabeth Robbins and Lora Anderson; two half-brothers, Thomas Brown and James Bradford Brown; nephews, Eugene Brown, Tony and Tim Richardson, Doug Grady; and a niece, Teresa Mundy; several great-nieces, and four great great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Walter Brown, Jr. and William H. Brown; and a sister-in-law, Irene Brown.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Pendley officiating.
Burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Rockcastle County.
Visitation for Ms. Mary Bernice Brown will be after 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home until time for services.

Evelyn Citak, age 85, of Somerset, Ky., mother of Dr. Michael Citak, departed this life on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at Somerset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 at 5 p.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Donald Gene Cummins, 54, of Richmond, husband of Jamie Payne Cummins, passed away Feb. 7, 2014, after a long illness.
Donald was born on May 21, 1959, in Rockcastle County, the son of Don Cummins of Mt. Vernon and Nina Cummins, of Somerset. A 1977 graduate of Clinton County High School, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky. While in college, he worked as an intern for Kentucky Utilities and upon graduating in 1982, became a full-time employee of KU. He remained with the company throughout his career, working as both an engineer and as a customer service representative to KU’s industrial customers.
He was a devoted Christian man who was dedicated to his faith in God, his church, and his family. He was a deacon of Red House Baptist Church in Richmond, and he served the church in many ways, such as coaching Upward Basketball teams and teaching Sunday School. He enjoyed being outdoors, going camping, and especially playing golf.
In addition to his parents and his wife of 28 years, Donald is survived by one son, Evan Cummins, and one daughter, Rachel Cummins, both of Richmond; three sisters, Vicki Cummins Stokes of Somerset, Sherri (David) Spears of Somerset, and Nina (Shawn) Hines of McKinney; his father- and mother-in-law,
Jackie and Jennie Payne of Mt. Vernon; one brother-in-law, John (Angie) Payne of Mt. Vernon; two sisters-in-law, Jenna (Tim) Arvin of Lexington, and Janelle (Houston) Venters of Charlotte, N.C.; and many, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who loved and will greatly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 at Red House Baptist Church, 2301 Red House Road, Richmond, with Dr. Deron Cobb officiating.
Burial will follow at Freedom Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.

Vincent Rainwater, age 60, of the Slate Branch community, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at his home.
He was born on July 5, 1953 in the Slate Branch community to the late Edd and Beatrice Burton Rainwater. Vincent was a self-employed brick layer and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed watching TV and spending time with his family. Vincent was known as the “Mayor of Slate Branch.”
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Faye Colyer Rainwater, whom he married on July 13, 1973 at Rev. Silas New's home; one son, Vincent Douglas (Chawna) Rainwater of Bowling Green, Ky.; three daughters, Susan (David McKinney) Rainwater of Somerset, Ky., Amy Rainwater of Somerset, Ky. and
Lyda Nicole Rainwater of the Slate Branch community; one brother, Lewis (Ruth) Rainwater of West Lebanon, Ind.; and four grandchildren, Michael Chase Rainwater, Maria Rainwater, Morgan Rainwater and Devon McKinney.
He is also survived by special friends Ernie Troxtle of Slate Branch, Ronnie and Jane Loveless of Slate Branch, and many many friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 after 5 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

Mrs. Clearsie Kirby Reynolds, age 94 of Crab Orchard, Ky. passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at her residence.
Mrs. Reynolds was born in Rockcastle County on Oct. 6, 1919, a daughter of the late Milton Green and Emily Elizabeth Kirby. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, flowers, her church and her family. Mrs. Reynolds was a member of the Walnut Grove Church of Christ. On Oct. 7, 1939 she was united in marriage to Lloyd Reynolds and from that union came 11 children.
Mrs. Reynolds is survived by her children, Raymond (Kathy) Reynolds of West Chester, Ohio, Ronald (Evaline) Reynolds of Eubank, Ky., Eddie (Linda) Reynolds of Crab Orchard, Ky., Earl (Judy) Reynolds of East Bernstadt, Ky., Anita (Robert) Alcorn of Berea, Ky., Janice Hager of Mount Vernon, Ky., Claude (Darlene) Reynolds of Crab Orchard, Ky., Janetta (Allen) Tingle of Richmond, Ky., Charlotte (Joe) Hampton of Stanford, Ky., Gary Reynolds of Brodhead, Ky., Roy (Kristi) Reynolds of Brodhead, Ky.; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one brother, Floyd Kirby of Crab Orchard, Ky.; her identical twin sister, Flossie Cummins of Crab Orchard, Ky.; and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Reynolds was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Reynolds; three grandchildren; four brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services for Mrs. Clearsie Kirby Reynolds will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Marcus Reppert, Brandon Reynolds and Bro. Marvin Cromer officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.

Viola Keith Nicholas was born Sept. 5, 1921 to the late William and Alice Jones Keith and she departed this life to her eternal home on April 7, 2014, having attained the age of 92 years.
She was a devoted wife to the late Wesley Nicholas for 50 years. She was a faithful member at Grave Hill Baptist Church where she taught the Ladies Sunday School class for many years. She retired from the Pulaski County Board of Education. After retirement she served as a foster grandparent at Oakwood Training Facility for special needs children. She also volunteered at the Burnside Elementary preschool program, giving her time, talents and love to the 3 and 4 year old children whom she adored.
Viola is survived by two daughters, Diana (and Austin) Alton, and Tana (and Tom) Chesney; one son, Rex Nicholas; and three brothers, Robert (and Barbara) Keith, Danny (and Ann) Keith, and David (and Ellen) Keith.
She was also blessed with many grandchildren and all were special to her.
Other than her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Wayne Nicholas and Gale Nicholas; two grandsons, Ricky Alton and Michael Nicholas; a granddaughter, Karen Alton Cogdill; and the following siblings: Alicie Super, Emerine Neeley, Mattie Keith, Maggie Godsey, Bertha Duncan, Clara Helton, Otis Keith, Clora Hardwick, Vergie Keith, Grover Keith, Mertie Yeskie, Lowell Keith, Joyce Sellers, Bill Keith, and Jim Keith; and the following step-siblings: Murphy Owens, Geneva Hill, Louise Fritts, and Reva Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014 at the chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Darry Hatfield and Bro. Doyle Worley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Grave Hill Cemetery.
